Community Tasting Notes 6

November 24, 2022 - Popped-decanted-and-poured, this would have benefited from much more air. This is a behemoth of a wine, with so much fruit, but even more structure to start. 30 minutes brought around good balance, with more and more emerging with more time in glass. Black plum and currant with roasted game, vanilla, and star anise. So much here after 6 hours, but clearly so much more to come. 1/3 bottle remaining for tomorrow, so more to follow....

Everything from last night was still clear-and-present on Night Two, but this time in wonderful harmony, with a long, enticing, and luxurious character.

I have one more bottle and will hold it until 2026 or later.

November 21, 2022 - Six hour decant, needed every minute. Delicious.

February 18, 2022 - Decanted the rest of a coravin’d bottle for 3 hours. Aromas of vanilla, cherry, plum, birch beer, kirsch liquor and hint of boysenberry. Flavors of cherry, black raspberry, vanilla, boysenberry, earth and touch of iron. Ends with a iron and black raspberry infused finish of 45-50 seconds. I tried at the 2 hour mark and it was really tight but soften up at the 3 hour mark. Dark and brooding, almost Syrah like. I can see why Manfred likes this. This will benefit from 5-6 years of aging.

January 1, 2022 - Decanted 2 hr+. It was too concentrated for me.

January 1, 2022 - Poured from a Coravin into a glass 3 hours before this note. Aromas of ginger, cinnamon, raspberry, birch beer and blackberry. Nose has a lot going on. Flavors of raspberry, sour cherry, vanilla, earth and iron. Ends with a huge finish of 45 seconds with raspberry and anise notes. A very unique wine that is quite big, dark and brooding.
