July 1, 2021 - Giant Steps new releases Zoom tasting. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark black + purple fruits - blackberries, boysenberries, plush dark plums, peppercorn spice. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), lush high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of plush dark red and black plums, boysenberries, blackberries, graphite, fresh raw dark meat sprinkled with gentle black pepper spice. With more air, sweet licorice and sweet baking spices.
Very good quality. More nods to Rhone Syrah than Aussie Shiraz. Like a Crozes Hermitage. Needs to be slowly appreciated. Another 2+ years to integrate I guess. -

April 13, 2021 - Low intensity aromas shows slightly vegetal, meaty, blackberry, slight stalks, slight black pepper, a slight reductive, leather and plum with time. On the palate it's initially fruit sweet then grippy tannins arrive that are floury textured and a little reductive, a touch of black pepper and alcohol warmth that is non-intrusive.
