January 19, 2024 - This has some Alicante Bouschet style funk in the aromatics. Real nice elegant and expressive red wine.

November 18, 2023 - The king of Etna for a reason. This is one of the most dry and earthy red wines I’ve ever had, and that is accentuated by 5 years of bottle aging. Dried red fruit, rhubarb and citrus oils on the palate with a medium-long finish and stunning minerality. Can easily go another 4-5 years which is impressive considering its entry level status.

August 1, 2023 - The “lightbulb” or “epiphany” wine for me, discovered in 2015 in Charleston, SC at the young age of 23 while waiting tables at the Dewberry Hotel in Charleston, SC. Fell in love with the backstory, the minerality and the volcanic complexity of one of Etna’s Crown Jewels.

Drank on family vacation in San Diego July 2023. Paired with chicken and tri-tip beef fajitas. May have been a bit past it’s prime but still showing that smoky minerality on the nose. Ready to drink right off the bat, the first sip reminded me of why I hold this specific wine in such high regard: medium body, excellent and integrated acidity, diverse minerality and bright red fruit lingering on the palate. A crowd pleaser to say the least. This wine straddles the fine line between easy drinking and complex in such an elegant way. Bone dry yet displaying the fine red fruit notes of its distant Burgundian cousins. Still one of the best values in the game. I will ALWAYS come back to Terre Nere.

    July 1, 2023 - Yum!

May 5, 2023 - PNP followed over several days. Much better on day two, when it lost its initial bitter funk to reveal a nice wine with underripe strawberries, sour cherry and just the right amount of ash, minerals and tannin ice structure. Drink with decant.
