December 24, 2023 - I m pretty sure people drinking and giving marks are copycats of WS, RP and other sites and journos !!!

It cannot be anything else, this wine is wonderful, balanced and well aged, it has everything one might be looking for in a Bordeaux blend kind of wine. I hardly lately had a so wonderfully fragrant and balanced Napa wine !!!

The One.5 we had a couple of days ago was not even that close to that scent refinery ! complex nose of truffle, cigar box, dried plums, bell pepper, fruits, nutty character, refined, elegant, and complex !

Palate is soft, integrated tannins, subtle, long, complex and refined, it is a fantastic example of aged Napa Blend, with all the great ripe fruit characteristics as the wine is still 14 alcohol so nobody might claim it is not ripe, just they waited a bit longer I guess, and it turned out extremely well ! long, loads of aromas, from ripe fruits, pepper, smoke, aged oak favors, forrest floor, cigar box, tobacco,... Fantastic wine again ! Sad I don't have one more of those !

As I am a bit of a geeky nerd for wine data, I have been checking why that vintage was so underrated, and cannot find a logical conclusion, as when you go to RP, Decanter, WS, and other journalists dats, you hear and read that the vintage was rainy and not easy and not good, etc... proof is that it has had 0,13 in of rain in September and 3,78 in October, only the season was cool and vintage super late ! So an ideal long growing season, and long maturity cycle ! check underneath the temperatures and rainfalls.

My conclusion, is that in the 90's so influenced by RP's extraction and overripen wines, and thus grapes, what would be a less warm more "European" and Bordeauesque vintage was called bad ! And nowadays with global warming everybody would look for that !

Be critical of wine critics as they don't have so much "the gospel of the word" !

November 20, 2020 - Underrated vintage. Aging so beautifully with fantastic balance. Decant as it is throwing a lot of sediment.

April 25, 2019 - Half of the cork fell into the bottle of wine when opening.

Chinese 5 spice with stewed plums on the nose. Barnyard, leather with much more fruit intact than the 91 with red currants and earth on the forefront.

    Still significantly tannic.

Just like the 91 I still rather drink a too young 2013 than the 98, the 06 is in a good place and can be aged more though.

October 24, 2018 - Dark fruit, cherries, mushroom, asparagus on popping. Deep red with no bricking. Vegetal notes mostly blew off with airing. The fruit is mostly gone, tannins are well preserved; the best part is the finish. Went quite well with broiled lamb chops. Paid $100 on release and stored for 18 years. Not worth the time or money. Would drink this at 90 mins.
