Community Tasting Notes 5

January 22, 2022 - I like this as an everyday drinking wine. It needs time to open up, decant for 1/2 hour minimum. The tannins are strong when first tasting, then they balance out. It has a deep black fruit on the nose, currants, blackberries, dark cherries. Once it opens it is pretty full bodied, with a spice finish on the back of the tongue. The finish is long for a new wine. It can be stored for quite some time, five to ten years from now it may be very interesting. It will stand up to red meats or pork well. I am holding some.

November 28, 2021 - the nose hints at plum and spice, deep and dark in character, finds notes of Provencial herbs and spice interwoven into baked plum, cherry and blackberry flavor, finishes with nuances of meat juice and mushroom, dives deep into Rhone terroir, calls for some red meat, can hold longer

October 17, 2021 - Two previous tasters on point. Fuzzy ripe warm sweetish Rhone entry captured by somewhat bitter wood tannins. You may decide it is a mouthful of lush penetrating Rhone velvet or the winemaker's flawed effort to add unneeded oak gravity, or both.

PS This bottle had a large amount of sludge, not dregs, more than seen in 50+ years of emptying bottles. I'll be polite and assume it was not a deceased residue.

September 10, 2021 - There's sort of a grapey dark chocolate thing going on here. Good amount of sweetness up front, but it crashes into a wall of supple yet serious tannins. Very good acidity. Feels warm and cozy somehow, like I should be drinking it in front of a winter fire.

October 22, 2020 - Deep plum with crimson rim. Strawberry and black cherry nose. Smooth, silky, nice finish. Very well balanced black fruit with slight bitter edge. Really good value and punches above it's weight.
