October 18, 2011 - Mouth puckeringly tart. My tastes skew old-world but acidity dominates too much here for a CA cab. It wants a hint of sweetness and some darker-fruited bass notes for balance. Could be decent with the right food - which better not have a sweetish sauce to exacerbate the wine's pH. Edit: far better day 3, and with more compatible food (again red meat, but this time without a too-sweet sauce): it's still a bit more tart than I'd prefer, coming from someone who usually wants more fresh acidity from CA cabs; but it's acceptable and moderately enjoyable. Upgrading score.
