March 29, 2024 - Nice wine at (or slightly past) its peak. High acidity, good depth. Paired well with spaghetti carbonara. Immense step up compared to “Amore e Follia 2016” from the same producer.

December 17, 2023 - Red fruits, dustiness and spice. Nice rosso from good year.

May 31, 2023 - Rosso from a high quality producer that is now dying, and fast at that.

Had vintage 2015 at a tasting two weeks ago that was way prime. This made me realize this vintage 2016 ASAP.

Drank chilled from bottle without decanting.

Red cherries, very mild astringency and an acidity that was perceived lower than I liked. Medium length simple finish. Had with pizza, a good pairing.

Slowly became dull as it oxidized and warmed up.

Ripi Rossos are not meant to become this old. Drink immediately.

April 23, 2023 - A bit awkward and murky upon opening but came together nicely with time in the decanter. The Sogni e Follia-wines comes from a cooler vineyard located west/north-west of Montalcino that is surrounded by forest.

After an hour of air this shows a very pretty, red-fruited nose with rose petals, dusty gravel road, tomato branch, black tea and a bit of fine balsamico. Medium bodied with fine-grained tannins and a high and precise acidity that drives it all. Slender and wiry like a true Radda-Chianti. A more ambitious Rosso di Montalcino that is entering its preferred drinking window now but will easily hold for another five.

April 22, 2023 - Overall, nice Rosso. A good amount of acidity and tannins, as well interesting aromas. However, may not be as expressive compared to some of the other top tier Rossos.

    Colour: garnet red.
    Acidity: high.
    Tannins: medium high.
    Texture: medium.

Aromas: strong minerality, leather, dark cherry, blueberry, vanilla, and black pepper.

    Would drink again!
