December 11, 2022 - Fruit forward, strong aroma, tannin over acidity but balanced, aftertaste of a white wine, light medium-long finish, 13.8% alcohol, 78 points

March 2, 2022 - Off the charts QPR. Where I live I can find this regularly under $5. This wine seems to have a stigma to it where many feel that it can’t be very good because of how cheap it is. I’d challenge anyone to taste this wine blind, along with other random Pinot noirs, and say it’s bad. By no means am I saying this is an elite Pinot noir, but at minimum this is 85+ points.

January 19, 2022 - What can I say, it's Mark West Pinot. I've been having it for 15 years and it's consistent and inexpensive, and ready to find everywhere.

It's a decent dinner wine. Kind of sweet cherry up front, and a middle milk note that isn't offensive, but would be good with a chicken, cream or cheese dish like cacciatore. No finish or structure.

November 17, 2021 - So many Mark Wests, so little time. I often wonder if there really is a Mark West. The label says Acampo, and yet Google finds no winery there. Pinots come from all over the place, offering a low-price hint of the "real thing." I haven't bought any since about 2006 but, walking into the local Binny's, I find myself confronted by a stack of cases towering above my head with a large price label showing $3.99. Well then. How can you turn that down. As the Rolling Stones once said, I got no expectations... but it is pretty serviceable: a little bit sticky and sweet, smooth and fruity.

July 25, 2021 - Dark berries, nearly zero structure, medium-full body, but if pepper and a bit of residual sweetness. Characterless.
