January 1, 2024 - New Year’s day, paired with grilled tenderloin.
This bottle unfortunately was a little past its peak. Black and blue fruits and black currants but receding fruit profile. Good tannic backbone holding it all together.
    Perfectly sealed and intact cork.

January 20, 2023 - dark currants, black fruits, spice, vanilla beans, leather, moderate tannins, long finish, bigger, more complex than the 1996 Flor

November 7, 2022 - The 1996 Pingus is a handsome wine, dark, sweet black fruit and clove filling the glass. Really deep, rich, saturating palate but definitely staying on the right side of the extraction line. Drinking well now, but ageless.

February 19, 2022 - not blind, side by side with the Pingus 1996, both from perfect bottles

I preferred the 95, more Bordeaux style. 96 more Californian and lush style. Most in the group preferred the 96.
1995 still firm tannins, good acidity structure. Some aging signs but nicely balanced. The 1996 feels fresher but not that complex.
Both wines didn't reach their peak but close to it.

October 24, 2021 - Ugh, heat damage. Still drinkable but not great.

(Pingus) Very oaky backwards and rich. Really showed young this evening.
