Community Tasting Notes 5

March 15, 2014 - My primary impressions were of the mouthfeel - like light, fine silk. Pretty tertiary aromatics framing the spicy, meaty elements. A bit drying in the finish.

March 14, 2014 - My last bottle of this, and it's another winner. Fully mature and incredibly savoury with the fruit rather understated in the background, and all sorts of savoury bloody, meaty, iodine and smoky elements dominating up front. Love the palate presence - very graceful and silken with barely any sense of weight, but great presence.

December 15, 2013 - Pre-Holiday Dinner @ Home: Savory, smokey, herbal and gamey. A lovely, complex, ethereal wine with great presence and persistance.

December 15, 2013 - An immediate wow from the scent. An array of brined olives, mature red fruits, smoke, leather, high toned peppery spice and floral notes all coming together seamlessly into a fragrance that's hard to move away from, and on the palate it's incredibly graceful and polished with flavours echoing the aromatics and gentle, resolved tannins making it very easy to drink.

November 10, 2013 - A wonderful fragrance from the second the cork is pulled; a spectrum of very classic Côte-Rôtie flavours with green and black olives, autumnal earthy/herbal notes and more sauvage leathery and bloody elements coming together. It starts out a touch thin and faded on the palate, but with air the fruit fleshes out and it gains more intensity and depth. This is drinking wonderfully now with the tannins fully resolved, a very polished, silken palate presence, but I don't plan on holding my other bottles any longer.
