    June 1, 2021 - 13% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Medium-deep yellow-green color with a golden hue. Characterful, somewhat evolved and slightly perfumed nose with aromas of ripe Golden Delicious apple, some developed woolly tones, a little bit of star fruit, light fragrant notes of orchard flowers and lychee, a hint of white peach and a touch of lemon marmalade. The bouquet has a somewhat atypical combination of evolved woolly character, perfumed Gewurztraminer-ish character and some subtly Riesling-like notes. Not particularly Pinot Blanc, but I'm enjoying it. The wine is dry, moderately full-bodied and quite ripe on the palate with a somewhat oily mouthfeel and balanced flavors of fresh white peach, some chalky mineral tones, a little bit of damp wool, light lemon marmalade tones, a hint of mealy apple and a perfumed touch of lychee. The moderately high acidity keeps the wine enjoyably balanced and structured. The finish is fresh and lively with dry flavors of red apple, some chalky minerality, light woolly notes of lanolin, a little bit of tangy salinity, light grapefruity notes, a hint of something waxy and a touch of apple peel bitterness.

A nice, pleasant and characterful Pinot Blanc with an understated perfumed note vaguely reminiscent of Gewurztraminer. You know, that distant granny perfume character. Then there's that woolly quality that some German Pinot Blancs seem to develop with bottle age and of which I'm not a big fan of. However, there's enough of everything else so that the wine doesn't come across as dull with pronounced damp wool notes. A good but not great wine - however, there's always a possibility that the wine will improve from here with bottle age. I hope the wine develops some nice, tertiary complexity and not just more woolly notes as it ages (as it seems to have done now, based on my earlier, a bit more positive note). All things considered, at 8€ this is a bargain.

    April 21, 2019 - 13,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Youthful and quite intense pale green color. Very youthful and fresh nose with sappy aromas of grassy greenness, tart green apples, some unripe pear, a little bit of quince, light honeyed tones, a sharp hint of lemon and a touch of wet stones. The wine is ripe, moderately full-bodied and slightly sweet-toned yet firm and focused on the palate with flavors of sweet'n'sharp Granny Smith apple, white peach, some stony mineral tones, a little bit of greengage, light honeyed sweetness, a hint of apple peel bitterness and a touch of cantaloupe. The moderately high acidity lends good freshness and intensity to the wine. The finish is quite long and pretty fresh with bright flavors of honeydew melon, some sweet golden apples, a little bit of cantaloupe, light stony mineral tones and a hint of apple peel bitterness.

A fresh, balanced and tasty Pinot Blanc that feels lighter and more structure-driven than most Pinot Blanc wines and retaining that fresh, cool-climate character of Mosel; yet the wine feels also noticeably weightier, fruitier and more ripe in style than what is expected of Mosel. The result is a wine that is ripe, fruit-forward and juicy, yet attractively fresh and focused at the same time. All in all, a lovely effort. The wine might gain some further complexity in a cellar, but I am not sure if the wine really needs any further age, since it is drinking so well right now.
