November 15, 2022 - This could be lifted straight out a WSET tasting note for Chianti Classico: red cherry, iron, tomato leaf, leather and violets, medium body and tannins with high acidity. This has nice depth and concentration, good with pasta. On the way to garnet thanks to 6 years’ age.
Rufina often leaves me cold- I find the altitude and latitude contribute to wines that are more austere than I’m looking for in Sangiovese. It seems that the combination of a warm, exuberant vintage and possibly the more selective picking for a Riserva bottling push this into enjoyable territory for me. Very good value at £14.
Vinified in steel and aged in oak for 24-36 months. -

April 25, 2022 - Nose - wonderfully deep and rich. Dried cherries, sour, bitter (in a good way), some herbal notes, menthol, balsam. Touch of smoke and floral
On the palate sour cherries, nice acidity, tannins present and smooth, decent length finish
Fruit fading a touch but acidity and tannin suggest it's got at least a year left -
