Community Tasting Notes 1

January 31, 2020 - Refine nose of blackcurrant, savoury roasted meat, dry herbs and licorice. The palate is very toasty with dry red fruits, somewhat remind me of an entry level South African red. Rather lean and spicy. Definitely not as elegant as what the nose suggests. Though the structure is open and round, it is supported by lots of acidity as the backbone to the wine. Transition to finish is fine but it ends with a mineral and toasty oak. The oak is not integrated at all and stick out like a sore thumb. It will probably last for another 5 years but I am not sure by then the toasty oak will subside. If the fruit components hold and persist, it will be better balanced.
