May 15, 2021 - This nervy Friulano is drinking well right now, with potential upside in a year or two. Light yellow in color; light in body; nose of sea shells, fresh cut grass, and green apple. Dense flavors of grapefruit, white pepper, and ocean air, with a briny, somewhat sour finish. 13.5% alcohol. Great value.
I had this wine on the same night as a 2017 Miani Friulano Colli Orientali del Friuli, which had more viscosity but less energy (and a way higher price). The Massican, in contrast, had enough push and precision to last for a while. 90+ at the moment, with upside as it broadens out in 2022 and later. -

June 2, 2020 - This is a gorgeous golden yellow. Definitely needs to have a good chill on it prior to opening. The nose is lemongrass, lime zest, mineral, tropical fruits. The palate carries all of this nicely as well as a bit of creaminess that builds as it warms. Very seafood friendly wine. Nothing mind blowing here, just a very good and affordable Friuli white wine!

January 26, 2020 - Light golden color. Very aromatic with white florals, juicy peach and stone fruit notes, crushed powdery rocks, bit of citrus. Very fresh smelling. Similar flavors on the palate with a very fruit forward attack with lots of acidity behind it. Bigger, richer mouthfeel than expected. Serious wine that needs more time to unwind. Definitely needs food if drinking now.
