Community Tasting Notes 4

February 26, 2019 - This bottle was likely off: it was severely oxidised. I don't know about the sulphur philosophy from this particular producer, but even modest dry Rieslings have enough stuffing to last 20+ years, and the decline is usually gradual. This is unpleasantly oxidised, hence my conclusion.

May 25, 2007 - A bright, mid-golden colour. The nose is dominated by aromas of honey, with some interplay of citrus and very light kero notes. A textured palate, waxy liked aged semillon. Palate starts off honeyed, some toast, before giving way to lemon fruit and some spice. It's dry but the honeyed notes gives the impression of off-dryness. Good structure with decent complexity. Don't think it will get better. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

May 2, 2007 - Some honey and butter on the otherwise soft, closed nose. The palate is pretty terrible - sour, watery and with a massive amount of acid. This bottle was close to undrinkable, but I have heard better reports from other bottles.

August 29, 2003 - UltimoWineCentre - German wine dinner: The Jesuitengarten is a straw-green colour, with a nose of lifted green apple & lime. This is quite big, with grapefruit-type flavours which run through a weighty palate. An attractive and satisfying wine, but perhaps not great value for money at A$80, twice the price of anything we’ve tried so far.
