October 12, 2019 - Red fruits, black fruits, tobacco leaf, spices, with cigar box tertiaries and black tea on the finish. Unlike any Barons that I’ve tasted, this was on the feminine side. Enjoyed this tonight but a tad below the Lynch Bages ‘99 tasted alongside which was more vibrant. Nonetheless a classic, well-aged Bordeaux. Open soon as I believe it is moving out of its prime.

June 26, 2019 - Decanted about 30 minutes, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated, tannic, masculine and classic. Loaded with tobacco leaf, smoke, wet earth and bright red fruits, the wine shows some bite in the fruit that works perfecty with the freshness. I am sure this will improve, but it is already quite tasty today.

June 4, 2019 - Wonderful wine at a wonderful occasion. Uncorked 24 hours prior to serving, gently introduced to fresh air and room temperature after 20+ years in my cellar. Starts off very quietly, slowly building confidence, hitting its stride after about an hour and two glasses down. It's beautifully sensually packaged, with deep blackcurrant fruit, vibrant aromas of violets, roses, cool wet earth, and the right amount of of secondary and some tertiary aspects of cigar box and cedar. There's also a red fruit note that I noticed recently in the '11, like wild raspberry, that provides testimony both to the terroir of the estate and the ability of Pauillac to churn out Cabernet aromatics like no other place on earth that I know of. It's just a beautiful wine--- remarkably fruity at this age, yet restrained, yet quietly flamboyant, combining fresh aromas with just the right amount of maturing flavours. A real treat and a privilege. Will keep

May 29, 2019 - Fine Wines SG - Bordeaux 90s Dinner - Left vs Right (Fine Wines SG): A good acidity, tannin, and weight, with blackberry, cassis, cocoa, and graphite. Great depth, and can see several more years with this

April 27, 2019 - Huge (and mouthwatering) aroma of cassis and sophisticated oak came off as I poured into the decanter, but this was the only point at which the wine showed much fruit influence, and that was a slight shame as it was promising great things at that point.

That said, the wine did show beautifully, if in a somewhat restrained fashion: nose dominated by lead pencil, with some tobacco; slightly bitter (coffeebean?) in the mouth, with a hint of cassis but more savoury notes, such as tomato puree, to the fore. Long but slightly simple meaty finish. Good both with and without food as tannins are in a good spot now - elegant and drinkable.
