Community Tasting Notes 2

January 5, 2008 - Ran into Mac (the winemaker) at Armando's in Houston and he said this was the one to try from their 2005 bottlings. It did not dissapoint -- rich fruit, berry and cherry flavors on the nose and very typical "Californian" pinot flavors on the palate, with unctuous raspberry and even a hint of what I kept feeling tasted (surprisingly) like licorice(?). Tasty. Medium finish and, all in all, a well-crafted pinot. At almost $60 with tax, it is not a steal, and I am not sure it tops some of my favorite Cali pinots (e.g., Sea Smoke), but I am glad to have tried it.
