Community Tasting Notes 4

January 30, 2024 - Occasionally I find this wine a little lean in fruit with pepper notes dominating. However, this vintage is decidedly more red than black. Medium bodied still, but the mid palate is fuller. Less white pepper and more roast capsicum. Good tannin, acid and mouthfeel. My wife opted out tonight, but importantly before she’d seen the bottle. An excellent match with lamb souvlaki, speaking to a medium bodied European style (French, Italian, or even Greek). 13.5% ABV. This is one of the better vintages of this wine I’ve had - QPR remains impressive.

March 8, 2023 - Excellent light to medium bodied fruit forward Shiraz. After the first glass I left it alone for 30 mins and some tannin did develop providing complexity. Tastes of red apple, red currants. Reminded me of an aged Pinot Noir. Can’t see much improvement in the cellar though so will look to drink over the next 12 months.

July 15, 2020 - Drank half a bottle over a couple of hours, then put the cork in and left it on the counter. It was enjoyable, but the flavours were a bit muted and it felt a bit disjointed. I drank the rest on two nights later, by which time it had settled down and was more enjoyable.

All up a good wine that will improve, but in need of a long decant at if drinking now.

April 30, 2020 - Seriously good wine for the price. Often find Yarra Shiraz to be a little green for my liking but this tasted of ripe fruits and excellent balance. A quality finish and a great wine for the price.
