August 13, 2023 - Is this exceptional wine really a Cab Franc.?!?

Earned a gold medal in the 2019 VA Governor's Cup, and deservedly so.

    Deep ruby trending to garnet.

Pronounced nose of dark red fruit and some stone fruit - plum.

Tertiary aromas forming - some oak, leather, vanilla, wild mushroom, forest floor, and a hint of smoke. Sediment starting to appear.

ABV at 14.5% and strong tannins. Medium + acid. All in perferct harmony. Silky. Delightful now, should improve with further ageing..

    Medium + finish.

This wine has years left - glad I have another. I think the winery is sold out.

The winery is situated on the Eastern slope of the Blue Ridge mountains outside Front Royal, VA and the sloped vineyards predominately face southeast. The views over the Piedmont are stunning and the terroir is ideal.

An unpretentious small tasting room for an intimate visit with the knowledgeable and friendly staff and owner.
