First impressions against memory from having Les Roises from the same release the night before - more notable oak influence, less of the rich nougat note, a distinctive struck match nuance and higher acidity.

Expressive nose with wafts of green apple, pear and lemon. A real smoky touch. Layers of struck flint, toast, brioche and hazelnut. Huge palate intensity and persistence. Very vibrant. So delicious.

    WSET notes:

    Pale gold. Fine mousse.

Pronounced on the nose with green apple, pear, lemon, toast, smoke, struck flint, chalk, biscuit, brioche, hazelnut. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. High acidity, light body, medium alcohol, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for aging.

November 8, 2023 - Grand Jury du Vin - Republic of Georgia; 11/1/2023-11/9/2023 (Republic of Georgia then stopover in Paris and Dijon): Decadent complex nose displaying succulent rich yellow fruit with a hint of red, lemon curd, baked apple, sour apple, a hint of red currant, brioche, cinnamon and other sweet spices, rain water and fine limestone dust. Beautifully integrated palate, nicely layered succulent yellow and red fruit, very find medium generous mousse, rich and sumptuous but also beautifully balanced and detailed, bright acidity, strong mineral, and a long succulent yellow and red fruit driven finish with cinnamon at the end. This is a very complete Champagne that is drinking incredibly well. There is no need to wait, however.

July 31, 2023 - 2016 base, still young and has huge potential. Very tight and concentrated upon opening with strong brioche/yeasty nose. Minerality forward. It soon transitioned into fruit, and then almond, then honeyed floral. Great wine and paired wonderfully with seafood.

July 28, 2023 - Feeling quite fortunate to have found 2 UC’s in one night, and my 3rd over the past week! On a wonderful restaurant menu in Forte de Marni, Italy for these two.
This was really lovely although served too cold and really needed to warm up to get the full intensity of the nose and palate. Concentrated yet delicate, citrus, marmelade, mineral. Lovely balance despite the acidity. Perfect with all types of food we encountered. A great choice albeit maybe a bit young. Disgorged 2020.
