Community Tasting Notes 4

May 23, 2021 - PNP. Black fruit plum and oak. On the riper side, enough acidity to keep it from being jammy, very slightly grippy tannins, some savory notes, but not a ton of typicity. For $20, a good crowd pleaser.

February 9, 2020 - Deep, dark reddish-purple garnet in color, almost opaque. Full, forward, & attractive nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of spices, pepper, earthy/dusty, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla undertones. Full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, cocoa, herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well with decanting & extended airing. Appears to be meant for near to mid-term. Good QPR.

January 28, 2020 - Smooth. I like this better than their Cab Sav

January 4, 2020 - Taste New Wines for Jan (San Diego Wine Co.): “100% Syrah from the Katherine Leone, Clifton Hill, Clifton, & Wahluke Slope Vyds; FR & AM oak; 14.5% ABV, 5.4 g/L T.A., & 3.91 pH; 1,195 cases produced.”

N: Plums & blk cherries with toast & floral undertones

P: LM body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which never comes even remotely close to losing contact with the init frt as it seamlessly evolves into a very LONG, BALANCED finish with an alluring tangy/SWTNESS to the firming, dusty tannins. POSS now with food, but DESERVES 12-18 mos, then drinking through '24. VERY nicely done! My EXC, more for QPR with a bit of time? [Though it appears they're already out, this vendor's $17.99 put it $3 < wine-searcher's only current entry.]
