February 7, 2024 - These chards really develop nicely with a few years of bottle age. When young they can be super coiled and a bit too nervy. Really finds a nice balance of Meyer lemon and herbal character but with nice richness on the palate.

March 29, 2023 - RM chard never disappoints. bright and zesty, but some creaminess and fruit to balance

June 21, 2022 - PnP, lime , green apple, pear, hazelnut , stone fruits, minerals, some oak on the nose and palate.. Rich, oily texture. Good acidity. Beautiful long finish.

May 7, 2022 - The first bottle from a mixed case of Rivers-Marie Chards and Pinots from the 2018 Vintage acquired about 2 years ago on release. This is a brilliant shimmering medium lemon yellow. It almost sparkles and has a slight tinge of green that seems to refract the light. The nose is lightly smokey (roasted nuts?) with hints of butter, vanilla, preserved lemon, sweet apple and citrus flower, maybe a touch of lime as well. Palate is very bright with acidity, almost bracing. It has a minerally backbone and yet a creaminess both in flavor and texture that is perfectly balanced with the various elements of the wine. At first the cream/butter was very prominent and I figured the wine had undergone full malolactic fermentation, but the acidity remains so high, I am guessing maybe only partial (?). The fruit is layered with lime, Meyer lemon, Macintosh apple, pear and finished with a light caramel and vanilla note. The aftertaste lasts a very long time, closing in on a minute. Better with lots of air and at room temperature several hours after opening. A remarkable wine that should age a long time and improve, possibly a lot, over the next decade+, well cellared. I am not so fond of some of the wines TRB makes for others but this is classic, old world styled, world class Chard that could be mistaken easily for Grand Cru Chablis or top level wines from almost anywhere in Burgundy in a blind tasting. If this puts on weight with age it may merit scores in the 96-97 range by my assessment. The more time you spend with this wine, the better it gets!

January 13, 2022 - Gold in color. 13.5% ABV. Prominent nose of apple, toast, hazelnuts and smoke. Full bodied with exquisite acidity. Tremendous texture and mouth feel. Rich, oily and impeccably balanced. Pears, lemon oil, vanilla creme brulee and minerals on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Such a young and vibrant Chardonnay that should age well. Best over the next 4-6 years.
