May 17, 2023 - Opened and paired with salmon, rice, and salad. Pale straw color with a golden hue. Nose brought sea salt, orange fruit, and lemon curd. The palate is medium-light, round, and textured, bringing a nice blend of yellow, green, and orange fruit mixed with chalk, saline, and hints of vanilla bean. The finish is layered and lengthy. This is quite accessible now, probably due to the warm 2018 vintage. Drink 2023-2030. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93.

January 19, 2022 - 2018 Roland Lavantureux Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir was intense, complex and mineral-driven. The bottle was sealed under a brown wax capsule. The youthful Chardonnays was clear and pale lemon in colour without any sediments. The attack was painfully intense, when the bottle was freshly uncorked. Three hours of in-bottle aeration was necessary to round out the spry edges. Aromas of preserved tangerine, white peach and honeysuckle were accompanied by gunflint smokiness. Underneath were intriguing notes of spearmint and toasted sesame.

The mouthfeel was dry and verging full-bodied. The intense flavours were matched with high level of vivacious acidity. Flavours of lemon candy, apricot and seashell salinity transitioned into vanilla blossom and complex herbs in a long, mineral-driven finish. The alcohol level on the label read 13%. The empty bottle weighed 720 grams.

From the information on Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant website, the vineyard spans 2.4 hectares with vines averaging at 40 years old. The soil is the famed Kimmeridgean soil of Chablis, consisting of alternating bands of grey marl and limestone, interspersed with fossilized oyster shells. In particular, the soil of Vaudésir is slightly richer in water-retaining clay, imparting elegance and delicate floral characters. The wine is matured in a combination of oak barrels (80%) and stainless steel vat (20%), of which about 5% to 15% of the oak is new. The modest use of new oak gives it a touch of enhancing toasted flavours, while retaining the purity and minerality of a great Chablis.

November 11, 2021 - Limey and spritely, with an extra kick of sea breeze to culminate the flavors into an overall billowing of freshness and put-a-smile-on-your-face acidity. The Chablis typicity is evident and true, with the Grand Cru verve and intensity you'd expect. Finishes with a lime and lemon juice squeeze of zesty goodness. Drink now for a happy day of crispness and spirited libation, or hold for a few years to see what bass tones may develop with some short term cellaring. 94+ solid points.

November 5, 2021 - From Arnaud L. himself "to have a combination of flesh on the attack with saline tension on the finish."
Nutty, vanilla, floral, stonefruit aromas, that finishes as clean as any Chablis would dream of.

December 18, 2020 - Pale straw in color. Slight effervescent nose with pear, apple, honey, stone, and stone fruit. Soft with medium acid. Apple, lemon / lime, pear and slight minerality on the palate.
