January 23, 2024 - To celebrate my 9,000 reviews on vivino, here is a beautiful Pinot Noir.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong fruity nose with bing cherries, raspberries, sweet strawberries, spices, oak, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, earth and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blueberries, black cherries, light earth, herbs, spices, vanilla, cedar, black pepper, light cola, dark coffee and licorice. black pepper.

Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This Pinot Noir from Burgundy is already drinking very nicely, but still extremely young. Well balanced and smooth with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

I had it blind right out of the bottle. That was a nice surprise. I called 2018 Burgundy Pinot Noir, but I did not see this kind of bottle coming...
What a great experience to blind taste such an iconic wine.

There is always an aura when drinking these kind of wines, but drinking them blind, gives you a perspective that might be missed otherwise.

Needed 2 hours in the decanter to open up properly, and bring more complexity. Much better once it opens up.

    Robert Parker 94 points.

I had an older vintage of this wine a year ago, and it is such a different wine. Will continue to age nicely in the next 30 to 40 years.

    13.5% alcohol by volume.

    92 points.

    $2,500.

December 30, 2023 - 00902/12176. Off the list at the end of the night, so only primary flavors in the half hour we spent with it. No doubt quite substantial and immediately more polished than prior vintages, but at this stage showing more ripeness and dark red fruit than the giant it will eventually be. I will hold off my personal bottles! 93-94+

April 6, 2023 - Opened at 3pm for dinner, the nose was ravishing, but on the palate was still sturdy and tannic, this tried to improve with more air but towards the end of dinner this was still the toughest wine. I would certainly keep this at least another 5 or more years, but it had all the stuffings to be a really amazing wine with more time.

March 3, 2023 - I've had the wild privilege of tasting three DRC at this point through the restaurant where I work.. I had a glass of this wine beside a 2018 Rousseau Mazis-Chambertin and this is the most beautiful red wine I've ever tasted.. the thing that I most loved is that, when I imagined DRC, I thought it would just be all beauty and perfection taken to its heights, but they are STRANGE !! I love this poet named Jean Valentine.. her poetry is so gorgeous but does it with the tenses all broken and things not seemingly fitting together.. but then it all balances into this strange and harmonious whole.. I think the best art is art that finds its balance through unusual, seemingly incompatible elements.. this wine was like that

the nose was all dill and bass cherry and blood and herbs.. the palate was bassy black cherries that went into this wild shimmery finish of fennel, dill, herbs, and so much minerality.. like the finish felt so savory and lasted forever and the strange way that it all meshed in w the cherry was otherworldly.. meaty almost smoky.. truly gorgeous and strange

since this wine I've tasted the 2012 Richebourg and it somehow had the same wild savory herb-fullness.. the only other producer I've encountered this wonderful combination in Pinot is Dujac
