July 25, 2021 - Just past peak. A near perfect cork after almost two decades in the bottle. Consumed over two days. Popped and poured this wine, it opened up quickly. On day two the fruit was still fresh, this wine had softened to reveal increased depth and integrated complexity. Medium burgundy color with a little oxidation and clarity was medium. Aromas of bing cherry and raspberry. Flavors of black cherry cola, black pepper, raspberry framboise, leather, and a little funk. This Syrah has a medium finish. This is my last bottle of this vintage. Always a great fruit source and a good winemaking effort.

February 24, 2020 - Somewhat subtle Hermitage, high acidity, med body, hint of smoke, wanted to like this more but just seemed a little lackluster and closed down. Good with some smoked ham/duck, but almost didn't stand up to it. Hedonists Meet-up at the Red Lion.

November 23, 2008 - Very mature, but still kicking, showing complex aromas of dried cherries or plums, green pepper, boxwood, leather and spice. Lots of flavor left with layers of dark berry fruits, leather and spice showing on the palate. Supple acidity and some fine tannins keep this lively and food friendly.

August 26, 2007 - Bottle not very good at first...let decant and really opened up the rest of the night. Almost sweet on the front with a nice tobacco and leather on the finish.

March 3, 2007 - A little disappointing when we first opened this however the longer it was left to breathe the better it tasted in fact it tasted better the next day! Became more full bodied, peppery, smoother with a lingering taste on the palate. wouldn't go out of my way to pay $48nz again for this.
