    September 8, 2022 - PnD let air for 1hr.

    Clear. Mesium(+) ruby.

Clean. Medium intensity with aroma of plum blackberry cherry ash mint and sun dried tomato.

Dry. Medium alcohol. Medium acidity. Medium(+) tannnins. Medium body. Medium intensity with flavours of plum blackberry cherry black tea and amaro.

Medium(+) grippy finish. Very good drink now suitable for further ageing. Love the grip from the ripe tannin with fruit and complexity. Bdx meets Tuscany.

December 13, 2021 - Good weekday wine; solid, tasty dark red fruit with good structure, yet not much depth.

April 28, 2021 - Querciabella's 2017 Mongrana is a deep ruby blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, fermented in stainless steel and aged in cement vats (i.e., no oak exposure). This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and sampled over the ensuing 2-3 hours. Moderately intense on the nose, it offers aromas of red currants, dark cherries, licorice, violets and cocoa. Medium-bodied, seamlessly alcoholic (13.5%) and vibrantly acidic, it delivers flavors comparable to the aromas, buttressed with a backbone of graphite and chewy tannins. Solid on the mid-palate, it goes on to close with a racy, medium-length finish. This Super Tuscan deserves another year or two in the cellar and should definitely be consumed with food (preferably Italian cuisine). If you choose to open it at this point, give it at least an hour of aeration. Drink 2023-2030.
