December 2, 2023 - Quite fruity on the nose dominated by pruins and forrest floor.

Rich in taste and tannins were not to heavy. Medium-long with black fruit dominating. Well balanced acidity to tame the heavy fruit.

To me not a classic barolo but a very nicely structured wine.

October 17, 2022 - Tannins are mild, sweetness (candy) is unusual. Needs more time (tasted in Oct22)

June 30, 2022 - Needs time in decanter but this is a most attractive wine with the finesse of Monvigliero and Verduno although a somewhat different expression from the versions of Burlotto and Fratelli Alessandria. Animal nose, iron and rust flavors, medium-full, smooth body, tannins that aren't all that ferocious with time in the decanter.

December 25, 2021 - Verduno, located in Langhe, is known to be one of the best areas for winemaking. And this Monvigliero is no exception.
Opened this bottle at 9am to have a sip and check the quality. Straight of the bat you can taste the tannins. This wine is young, complex and tangy. It needs time to open up. And boy, did it open up. Poured this wine in the decanter around 3 pm.
Around 7pm this wine tickled all your senses. Nice red wine with orange tinges. Ripe red fruit and characteristic nebbiolo on the nose. The taste was exquisite, intense and elegant. Red fruit tasted at first, velvet tannins around the mouth and an earthy, leathery finish.
This wine was paired with red meat, mushrooms and some Roseval potatoes.

December 4, 2020 - Small taste from a dear friend.

Light red to orange in colour.

Very young nose, immediately screams Nebbiolo.

So elegant on entry I though 16 Barbaresco.

Classic rose and candied violet nose leaps from the glass. Go a bit deeper and the darker spice (anise) and smoke and tar come through.

Crunchy raspberry, just like adult cordial, pulls you in to a playful space for a moment through the middle before the razor fine and fresh tannins get their claws in. A wine of light and shade here. Good cop up front. Bad cop from the middle.

Gritty and sweet spice (cinnamon sugar) plays in the back third with tannins to great effect.

So much tannin for a light bodied wine. They are in balance, and the slippery Serrano puppy fat provides all the savoury help the wine needs to leave you very satisfied and in awe.

This is an excellent to exceptional example of Nebbiolo. It’s a very pure example- so clean and bereft of oak or artifice- that the smells and details speak with a very clear voice in a wine that is so very fine and light bodied.

I have a couple of bottles of these. It’s fantastic now, but it’s so very young and those tannins will scare the pants off anyone not used to the style. I’ll aim to drink one in 5 years and then one in 10 years.

    96. Thank you Duck.
