Community Tasting Notes 3

August 11, 2020 - Agree with notes from Oldwines. This is simply delicious. Great balance and mineralogy balance the peach candy nectar. Just the right amount of concentration and purpose to go beautifully with food.

August 9, 2020 - Double decanted an hour before drinking at a friend’s house with dinner. At first there was huge butter on the nose but that faded pretty quickly yielding a lovely rich Chard that expressed a large amount of honeysuckle, a little citrus and lots of white peach. The honeysuckle was quite pronounced and powerful. This went very well with some spicy fried shrimp. Quite complex and long on the finish. For me the only shortcoming might be the relatively low level of acidity. While not over-ripe nor flabby in any way it was all about florals and very fruit forward.

May 4, 2020 - This has to easily be one of the best chards to come out of the central coast in a long time. I ordered this on a whim, really liking what I tasted from Paul Lato and Pisoni at the Wide World of Pinot, and it did not disappoint. In fact, I had an 18 Peter Michael Belle Cote the night before and this is right up there with it. And that is shocking to me, but perhaps I am just behind the times.

Fresh and expressive nose of apricot, lemon zest, brioche, green apple and lots of wet stone. On the palate, this is deft, much like a good white burg. Seamlessly fresh, with a bit of tart pear and stunning purity. The integration is fabulous, with everything moving in the same direction, providing layers of sumptuous flavor, good core of concentration and yet incredible delineation. It is at once powerful and lithe, something very few if any chards from this area achieve. Finish is long and extremely satisfying. Am I underrating it at 96 because it's from the central coast? Maybe.
