May 25, 2023 - Beautiful notes of chocolate, spices, fresh flowers, dried sage, vanilla bean, sweet tar and mix of red and black fruits. Huge cab franc but velvety on the palate. Nice acidity, soft tannins on a long finish. Not as deep as the ‘16 or ‘18, still great.

April 6, 2023 - Full, round mouthfeel full of ripe black fruit and some spice. Has just enough texture and grit to balance the ripe fruit. A relatively good value at $100 or less compared to Napa Cabernet. Similar characteristics to the $150+ Cabs from Napa. Cab franc may be part of the answer to the out of control price inflation of Napa Cabs…..or plan to go with modern Bordeaux, but must store for years before ready to open.

February 12, 2021 - 2017 horizontal. Same rich black fruited aromas with a bit more spice. Tannins dominate the palate today, not noticeably bitter, but clearing obstructing the fruit. High elevation mountain tannins really coming through. Jean says Sleeping Lady will best reward cellar time, but I think this wine will certainly reward a decade on its side.
