February 17, 2022 - The larger percentage of Cabernet Franc really gives this wine a floral nose and palate. Well integrated and ready to enjoy. Popped and poured it was enjoyable right away and didn't fade over 90 minutes. Great value from a'Maurice.

November 17, 2021 - A nice Washington blend in a nice drinking window
Went well with salmon on a plank
I don’t think this will get any better than it is now
    Which is really good

    November 10, 2021 - Anton’s Wine Tasting Notes
    Winery: ÀMaurice
Varietal: 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot
    Area/Appellation: Washington, Columbia Valley
Vintage: 2016. Price: $45 Kansas Market
Color: Dark ruby from below and Opaque purple from above,
    Legs: Medium fast
Nose: A plethora of black fruits and soil. Some black currant, cassis, loam, black cherries, some dark prunes,
Palate: cocoa, coffee, earth. a devilish amount of Cassis followed by black Currant as it very slowly opened.
Finish: Very dark and rich and still closed even after 2 1/2 hours.
Lots of rich brown black minerals almost volcanic soil the Cassis is definitely overwhelming but it’s beautiful and the black currants are very nice. I do get just a tinge of green bell pepper off of this and I also get some prunes from the Merlot this is a very well put together wine.
Comments: This wine had a good 2 1/2 to 3 hour decant. I highly recommend that. The terroir of Washington is so beautifully expressed here. This wine is complex. It has structure that’s going have age ability. I would definitely buy some and try this in 10 to 16 years. The thing impresses me about this wine is the fruit, acids and tannins are so nicely in balance. The tannins on the very last of the finish still get lot of dark red dirt and some charcoal. Anna Schaffer definitely built this to last.
Pairing Suggestions: I paired this with a classic Kansas City style strip steak. I also had some goat cheese laying around and some aged Welsh cheddar.
Score in terms of Vintage: 90
    Score for the Wine: 91-92
Value for the Money: Very Good 😃 to possibly excellent. 🍷

May 8, 2021 - Dark fruit up front, core is broad with cocoa and coffee and earth on the core with herbal and licorice notes. Chewy, good acidity, long finish. Higher-noted than expected. Not my usual preferred style, and, this is a really nice, full spectrum wine.

May 2, 2021 - Nose: blackberry, dark cherry, plum, perfume, herbs, truffle. Palate: dark fruit (plum), dark chocolate, graphite, iron. Highly tannic. Med+ acidity. Recommend a decant of some sort. Complexity emerged after 1 - 2 hour opening in the bottle. Four hours after opening I'm still enjoying this. aMaurice has never disappointed, and Anna Schafer is one of the best winemakers in Washington State. By comparison, this was not quite as good as her estate cab - Owl & Crown. But that is a very high bar. This was still compelling and long lasting.
