September 17, 2022 - Corison makes some of the more elegant and restrained Napa Cabs. This one has aromas of violet, currant, blueberry, cedar, mint, liquorice, mild cocoa and a dusty whiff. Quite tight and acid-dominated at first, with light, dry powdery tannins. Opens nicely with some hours out in the free air: more integrated and balanced. Delicate and nuanced, fresh acidity, floral and elegant. Long. Not many manages to pull of such elegance in Napa, which is why Corison is one of my definite favourites.

September 4, 2022 - My first Corison. Slow ox for 2.5 hours before drinking, and it wasn't enough time. Very closed and shy for the first hour. It wasn't until almost 5 hours after uncorking that the wine started to open up and sing.

On the nose: leather, tobacco leaf, forest floor, menthol, eucalyptus.

On the palate: very upfront acid, but well balanced. Red fruit, black fruit, some citrus, leather, mint.

I was surprised by the thin and watery mouthfeel, as it wasn't what I expect from Napa Cabs.

Very delightful wine, but still very young. I'll hold for five years or longer or at least decant for at least 5 hours if drinking again soon.

July 23, 2022 - Currant on the nose. On the palate, currant, black cherry, and notes of cigar ash and blueberry on the medium to long finish, with strong dusty tannins and strong acidity. This was monolithic at first, and although it evolved and improved over some hours it never really opened up. It needs several years yet; the Cellartracker drinking window may be too early. As it is now, it was a below-average value at about $90, but it should improve significantly over the next five to ten years.
