December 26, 2023 - High concentration and intensity with prominent new oak on the nose and aftertaste. Fresh roses and violets and crushed cherries lead into star anice and cinnamon. Bright acidity and soft but present tannins, try again in 5y when the oak may dissipate. 95/100

March 25, 2021 - Barolo Boys Cru Special – Cerretta (Zoom!): Again from the Bricco Cerretta zone, at the top of the hill with vines facing all aspects. 24 mos barrique (20% new). Altare wines are known for ageing well - eventually the oak will dissipate, leaving a really pure wine. Not yet commercially released.
Very dark colour. It's Barolo meets Napa! I quite like it actually, although it does remind me of Ribena and Bourbon. Cedar, loads of fruit, a little spice, creamy and soft. Savoury and pretty moreish in its own way. Don't see myself buying this, but would be curious to try a mature example.
