January 18, 2023 - Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL): Another impressive wine that just didn't come out to play today. Tons of structure, but missing the charm right now. This will definitely need a lot of time to fully resolve; perhaps 24 hours in a decanter might loosen it up? In any case, not a wine I would consider opening right now (though I'll gladly drink open bottles of it). Needs a lot of time.

September 15, 2021 - Dinner at Osteria Langhe (Chicago, IL): I've been itching to try this wine since I realized it was made; but I haven't found it for sale anywhere yet. This is an amply worthy successor to the brilliant 2010. More potential than anything right now, this feels clamped quite tightly (I got to it pretty late in the evening so it had probably seen more air than I would have liked). The fruit is more on the black side, but it is sweet and intense. There is a massive scaffold around which the fruit is arrayed, but today you only get a sense of scale. This will need many years to resolve, but the sheer amount of material here makes for a very convincing wine. I will be looking to put some of this in my cellar when it is commercially available.
