Community Tasting Notes 15

September 20, 2023 - Clear appearance with deep ruby color

Clean medium + nose with primary notes of dark fruit (blueberry), herbaceous notes (mint) and spice (pepper and liquor ice) as well as some candied notes. Secondary elements of vanilla and cedar. Limited tertiary notes of caramel

Dry with medium acidity, high, somewhat grippy tanins, high alcohol and high body. Medium + flavor intensity with similar aroma elements with blueberry, vanilla and cedar elements coming to the forefront. Medium plus finish with minimal evolution and some buttery notes at the end.

Overall a very good wine. The presence of a number of secondary and tertiary elements in the profile contributing to a complex wine speaks to some excellent wine making. The length is a little limited. The dominance of these secondary and tertiary characteristics and lack of primary identity of grape, place or intent makes this wine a little difficult to place.

    I'd drink this wine now.

I agree with the other tasters that the quality for price ratio is not what I'd expect and that there are probably better Bordeaux style red blends for the price.

    From the tech note:
    48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petite Verdot, 12% Zinfandel, 8% Petite Sirah, 8% Syrah, 6% Tempranillo, 3% Merlot

September 9, 2022 - Dark purple color. Medium bodied. Mild tannins. Not particularly complex. Lots of fruit with cherries, plums, blueberries, raspberries and some oak. I think at this price point there are much better choices. PNP.
