Community Tasting Notes 5

    88/89

May 6, 2022 - I thought this was excellent over the course of three days. Concentrated with bright acid and a lot of cranberry fruit. Long finish.

January 23, 2022 - Vibrant dark red fruit with quite a waft of volatile acidity initially, which dissipates into a pleasant earthy funkiness. I used to associate that earthiness with northern Rhone wines, but it is becoming more common in some of the cru Beaujolais we’re fond of tasting. This could probably have slept for another couple of years but we were quite happy to enjoy it young!

October 11, 2021 - Brett barnyard funk on the nose, follows to the glass.

More mushroom than dung, but definitely not my preferred profile. I recently drank the 2019, and it was starting to show similar tendencies. The super natural style from Cotton doesn't seem very stable in the bottle.

April 16, 2020 - Light, slightly floral, a bit of red berries, just a hint of sweet, but not too ripe. Very approachable but also very young. Still more primary in nature right now (e.g. no secondary notes), but it's a more subtle style wine. Just this slightest of minerality, almost an iron ore note but more of the crisp, slightly metallic style. Good acid. Poured kindof a moderate red and has gotten deeper and more ruby in color with air. We drank this blind and went through about 4 different wines before settling on the CdR which isn't exactly right because this is cooler climate in style (but maybe a cooler part of Rhone?). Anyway, the point I haven't covered and the most important point is we enjoyed the wine and thought it was a lovely easy sipper even if we haven't a clue what it really is.
