November 21, 2023 - Tuesday Night Double Blind $60+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Deeper see through ruby violet; pretty nose, candied roses, hints of violets, kiss of oak and vanilla, lots of spice on finish, cinnamon, cool menthol, Burg inspired, slightly lower acids; Croix Beaune 1er?; give this some time.

April 24, 2020 - Drank last night. After about an hour and a half it opened up beautifully. Great nose, body, finish. Been in isolation for 41 days and have been drinking Grand Cru Burgundies among other wines. Wife said it was the best wine we've had in the last 50 bottles drunk together. Almost a religious experience. Did not know Oregon Pinot could rise to these heights.

April 23, 2020 - Tasted all three single vineyard wines from this producer...Nysa Vineyard, Momtazi Vineyard and Bishop Creek Vineyard by Coravin pour and given over 2 hours in the glass before drinking in conjunction with a winery virtual tasting event. Each is from a different AVA in the Willamette Valley of Oregon but each was vinified the same method including no use of sulfur before bottling, a long cold soak before fermentation, entirely or almost entirely de-stemmed and with roughly similar new oak treatment of 50% though with some variation in “levels of toast” and “type of grain” in the barrels sourced from the same cooperage as used by co-owner and winemaker Jean-Nicolas Meo at Meo-Camuzet in Burgundy. All the vines are fairly old with the youngest planted in the Momtazi Vineyard in the late 1990’s. The other two wines are made entirely from own-rooted vines planted in the 1980’s. The Bishop Creek site is Estate owned while the other two are purchased from specific leased blocks as I understand it.

The NYSA vineyard in 2017 produced a gorgeous wine that is from a Pommard clone and show off amazing elegance for such a young, recently released wine. It is a translucent, medium garnet crimson color. The nose is very fragrant and perfumed but not necessarily floral, more like a complex mix in a light cologne. There is also cherry, mint, pomegranate and a slight creaminess in the aromas. On the palate the wine had good structure and bright acidity showing cherry, cranberry, red currant and some “toastiness” with a nice texture. The finish is very long with some dry extract that is a little like an iron fist in a velvet glove as I think this wine, while absolutely delicious now will evolve wonderfully over time. I do suspect it will close down at some point in the next few years and “hibernate” until around it’s 10th birthday. But I would venture a guess that this will be great for a long time.
