March 30, 2022 - The colour was a slightly dull ruby red. Not murky but not glowing at all. Rather thin rim and does not inspire confidence. The nose was initially savoury, with tobacco, forest floor, spice and white pepper. Not a lot of fruit evident.
Palate was similarly dominated with tobacco, slight stemmy characters, a touch of pepper and spice, and some red fruits in the background. With more air, I did get a little black fruit but the wine lacks fruit intensity and complexity. It tastes more like a basic Bourgogne than a Beaune, and is what I'd call an "okay" wine.
I am not buying any more wines from this producer (which is a co-op of some sort) as the two wines (one white, one red) are rather average at best.
