February 6, 2020 - Deep dark color. Dark fruit on the nose. Great balance. Smooth tannins and nice acidity. Same dark fruit on the palate. Great finish.

June 29, 2016 - I opened it 5 years too early. Beautiful balanced of fruit, oak and complex palate. It lasts on the mouth and there are still some tannin gripping the palate. Drink 2020-2025

March 18, 2013 - Deep maroon purple, glass coating color. Intense nose of juicy dark fruit with vanilla oak. Fruit-forward with dark berries and plums with some tarry ash and tobacco lurking in the background. Mild oak and supple well-integrated tannins that only assert themselves on the velvety finish. That's the intellectual response. The hedonistic response: simply -- or more accurately, complexly -- delicious! Dark nectar on the nose and purple velvet in the mouth! Makes a Filet Mignon sing, and a South American outdoor roast beef would be devastating! Drink now or hold through 2016 or so.

March 27, 2010 - Color (5/5) is a glass-coating dark blackish purple with wild ruby highlights. The nose (13/15) leaps from the bottle upon opening and doesn't quit. Tobacco, vanilla, and charcoal plum rule. Gets more complex with time. Palate closed a bit on opening, but eventually echoes the palate with some tarry element added to the finish (14/20). Tannins are like crushed velvet.
Clearly New World offering but with a hint of Old World laughing in the background. Very well put-together. Dark tarry Tannat leads to be sure, but Merlot's plush and Tempranillo's sexy cigars are easily recognizable. No austerity at all: it's completely approachable and drinking fabulously now. Probably has several years left, at least to the middle of the decade (7/10).
