Eudemis Likes this wine:
May 15, 2022 - 13.5% alcohol. G 85%, Cnslt, Mrvdr, Crgn 5% each; I understand that the Grenache is particularly old, planted around 1950. Ardeaseal closure. The colour is sustained but relatively light for southern Rhône.
Aromatic nose with a basket of fresh berries, both red and dark and some violet upon swirling; nothing stewed here. The mouth is equally compelling showing great poise, freshness and elegance. There is nothing overstated here; some may wish for more power, but I'd rather have the balance and refinement in evidence in this bottle.
I can't help being reminded of the better Terrasses du Larzac estates (not a criticism at all as I value these wines highly). Otherwise the southern Rhône estate that is closest in style would be Montirius.
A success and a repeat purchase.
PS: after writing this note, I see on my supplier's website that the wine is produced using the whole cluster fermentation method, which would account in part for the sensation of freshness.2 people found this helpful Comment -

May 14, 2020 - Going garnet at the rim.
Slightly dried fruits. A little astringency but pretty low tannin. Rosemary aromas.
Nice but lacking an edge -
