May 16, 2020 - First Riesling I’ve had from Baden-Baden and a bit “different”. Bright youthful color. Nose is grapefruit, beeswax, and a hint of nutmeg. Not much of the petrol that I usually get out of Riesling. Good mid-palate acidity and a nice dose of minerals. Finish is more noticeable in the back palate and lingers for awhile, suggesting decent extract to my mind. I like this wine a lot and, while it definitely tastes like German Riesling, it does taste different from what I’m used to from Mosel, Rheingau, etc. Maybe after a few more bottles, I can articulate exactly how it’s different. Should be fantastic over the summer. Not one for cellaring long-term.
