May 31, 2020 - Aus der Magnum, eine Stunde vor Genuss belüftet. Schöner Merlot, wuchtig, ein Korb voll dunkler Beeren, wunderbarer Trinkfluss.

May 22, 2016 - Costiera Amalfitana; 5/16/2016-5/25/2016: A giant wine, huge black raspberry fruit extract, graphite/topsoil minerals. Mature and high quality but lacking the counterbalance of acidity I hope it would have had in its youth. Thus, the experience is one-dimensional like one long blaring foghorn. Drink now-2021

October 29, 2014 - Darkly colored with a nose that could not be anything else than Italy with its balsamic notes, at first I thought Tuscany but I have never encoutered so rich and full bodied a Tuscan wine before... Blackberries pencil shavings and graphite mineality made me think of Cabernet but raisiny and plummy fruit together with massive but soft tannins made me think again - Merlot! I could not guess Campania though. On the palate it is huge but velvety and not overwhelming. A great wine with potential for further aging. The only thing is that the wine that came after it, Chateau d' Ampuis 2003, eclipsed it with its clarity and made its nose feel almost diffused and faulty....

October 27, 2014 - Very dark, opaq. Dark fruit like plums and blackberries alongside balsamic herbs, dark chocolate, clove, espresso roast and earthy minerality. Full-bodied with velvety tannins, big fruit and balancing acidity. Very long. A blockbuster. Now and over the next decade.

June 18, 2013 - Strong, but rather vague nose of crushed berries with some cheesy, smoked and herbal notes. Med+ body, low acidity. Dark chocolate, prunes, spice, bacon on the palate. Good structure, but lacks freshness. Good length. Dark fruit with a touch of spice in the aftertaste.
