December 12, 2021 - It’s fairly light footed Barolo, the nose a bit closed at the moment. On the palate though, it’s like a Burgundy drinkers Barolo, with good and crunchy dark red fruit and complex spice, also very mineral driven with just a touch of oak framing it. On the back palate, it puts on the after burners, with a tannic sizzle that can only come from Piedmont, while still retaining its light to medium frame. The lightly sweet fruit and savory spices resonate well on its fanned out finish. While some will downgrade this for lack of depth, this is just a wine that prefers to rest closer to the surface, and it’s another highly successful vintage for this wine.

December 7, 2020 - Opened to breathe for 2h. Perfumy nose of sandalwood, spices, vanilla, hints of violets. On the palate, is light to medium bodied, very agile red fruit, more cedar, spices, cinnamon, acid and tannins. A much softer expression of barolo than the brutish cannubi. Great pairing with my chicken, gorgonola, and tomato salad.

December 4, 2020 - On a Fri after a difficult week, decided to sample six 2016 barolos. Admittedly *extremely* young wines, this tasting is intended to inform which '16s I should lay down for long-term aging. From coravin, poured between glasses for some quick air. Light ruby in the glass. Dried leaves, spices, vanilla on the nose. The palate is pretty classic red cherries, spices, black pepper, chewy tannins and acid finish. Very clean and bright. I like the subtlety and finesse here, as good as the bussia. I enjoyed the cannubi less and the villero more. At least in this coravin sampling.

November 3, 2020 - Decanted for 3 hours, tasting the Fenocchio 2016 Barolos, medium light red, red fruits, tannins are so refined, almost Burgundian, delicious but totally overwhelmed by the villero & cannubi

October 12, 2020 - Ein toller Castellero. Eine grossartige Nase nach Himbeere, Rosenblätter, Veilchen. Druckvoll und explosiv am Gaumen, bombige Himbeeren, Menthol. Grossartig!
