Community Tasting Notes 9

July 2, 2023 - Dark purple almost black. Just pulled the cork 90 minutes before dinner & no decant. Very concentrated & extracted. Almost like a good Cornas. Falls a bit short as it is more one dimensional without flavor layers. But for $30 excellent QPR. It is worth buying more of an excellent for dinners where you don’t want a more expensive bottle.

September 30, 2022 - Decanted one hour. Drier than West Texas. Not a hint of sweetness. Newbies will most likely not like this wine. A bit one dimensional. Probably a wine to have only with food. I probably wouldn’t open this to drink by itself. Nice Syrah flavors although not a lot of depth or structure. Still a very good QPR.

April 20, 2022 - Deep ruby. Medium nose - strawberry, blueberry, prune, mushroom, black pepper, forest floor. Youthful. Dry, medium plus acid, medium plus tannin, medium alcohol, medium plus body. Medium plus intensity - black cherry, black plum, blackberry, coffee. Long finish. Drink now, has potential for aging.

April 6, 2022 - Decanted one hour. Nice extraction and flavor layers for an inexpensive but flavorful wine. Easy to drink.

    January 1, 2022 - Informal notes on phone -

Nose - Decant 1 hour. Blackberry and plum. Maybe a touch of olive? Some sort of funk but it is pleasant.
Palate - Very silky mouthfeel with fine grained tannins. Dark berries. Medium acidity. Long dark berry finish with a little tartness.
Overall - Not overly complex. A decent anytime drinker but far from what the higher end Jaboulet can offer.
