Community Tasting Notes 3

July 31, 2009 - Youthful appearance, medium/deep ruby/purple. Ripe, sweet, brawny, pungent nose with slightly spicy black cherry and plum fruit and cola notes. Medium/full bodied on the palate, rich with plenty of chewy tannins, attractive attack with dark, spicy, slightly earthy cherry and plum fruit, a hint of over-ripeness perhaps but full, satisfying and brazen with decent depth, medium acidity but enough to provide some balance, then the finish curtailed somewhat by the slightly rustic tannins. Good +.

September 26, 2007 - Medium ruby, medium rim. Rich, slightly roasted ripe cherry fruit and spice on the nose. The same, rich, ripe red cherry fruit appears on the palate with enjoyable spiciness and also some over-ripe cola notes. There is good depth of fruit, just about sufficient acidity and then some very big, sticky tannins on the good length finish. On the whole it is very big, very aggressive, very 2003, and although not perhaps what I would usually be looking for in a bourgogne I actually found myself quite enjoying it. Good.

May 13, 2007 - Huge spicy raspberry style pinot - tannic but well buffered, not elegant, but a really striking wine
