Community Tasting Notes 9

March 4, 2024 - 21 months after the prior: Pleasant enough — but considerably more oxidative, and showing less brightness and savory freshness. Consistent results over three nights, gassed in between.

September 9, 2022 - Medium-bodied white wine. Minerally, stone fruit. Good acidity not excessive.

  • Sonoma-W Likes this wine: 90 points

August 19, 2022 - Interesting -- a bit Viognier-like -- not heavy. Noticed a bit of oxidization on the nose -- but nothing on the taste.

June 15, 2022 - Two months after the prior: Again this is such a distinctive creature. Encore savory marzipan, simultaneously creamy and with good acidity. We agree it’s lovely upon opening, but also found the evolution interesting and enjoyable on the second and third nights. We also agree the wax is brittle and poorly applied. But as with any other wax capsule, we’ve learned never bother to try to take it off, and instead always just plunge through. That said, this brittle wax does require special attention to avoid dust in the bottle.

May 30, 2022 - Annoying, poorly applied plasticky wax capsule. Very difficult to remove so I pulled the cork through it. Difficult to keep tiny fragments of the capsule out of the glass. Not a great cork - dark, porous.

Poured a rich gold with a slight green tint. Presented a moderate aroma of pear and peach, with base notes of butterscotch and petrol. Palate of underripe peach, pink lady apple, lemonade, green onion, and petrol. Tasted best fresh out of the bottle, with a pleasant, shining acidity lasting for the duration of the flavor profile. Silky and smooth mouthfeel despite somewhat underripe palate. After a few hours, the petrol flavor became quite dominant and the freshness of the fruit faded. Not a stunner.
