Community Tasting Notes 6

September 6, 2021 - Should you be interested, I’ve uploaded info for this vintage which you can peruse at your leisure. 😉

Slow ox for 1 hr; Private Preserve used after Day 1.

N: Closed; Hints of ripe berries (blk cherries?, though the relatives got that on the P), pyrazines, poss minerals?

P: RNDISH entry; MF body with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an ALMOST puckerish acidity which slowly, seamlessly transitions into a VERY LONG, BALANCED finish with a delightful TANGY/swtness & minimal, VERY innocuous tannins. Though adequate with our Smkd BBQ Pk Ribs (which seemed to bring out the wine's underlying structure), I thought it better solo, at least @ this juncture. Though the relatives were not particularly impressed, my EXC-/EXC (90-93/100 using that paradigm) for this wine on the upswing.

// Day 2: Showing earth & minerals aromatically, with undertones of pyrazines & hints of choc. P has held VERY well, with arguably even some improvement over Day 1! 🙂

∑: DEFINITELY trending towards my EXC (92,93/100 using that paradigm), particularly if given more air than I did, or held into, say mid '22 & enjoyed into '25.

February 9, 2021 - This wine is exceptional with bbq. All Rundquist wines tend to have a earthy, smoky element to them and this wine is definitely the one to enjoy with ribs or brisket. We have been drinking it for years and love it!

January 30, 2021 - I seem to disagree with many of the other raters of this wine. I find dark fruits, vanilla and nutmeg on the finish. I find that this is much better with lots of air and days of open time.

October 31, 2020 - Dark fruit....chewy tannins. Definitely a wine to have with food.
