Community Tasting Notes 8

October 20, 2021 - Citrus peel, grass, flowers on the nose. Medium body, medium acidity on the palate. Paired with pesto and it was a great pairing as the wine’s acidity cut through the richness. The finish on this wine is long.

September 11, 2021 - It may be appealing to some but not a fan of the heavy minerality. A little better on day 2 but ended up going down the drain....

September 10, 2021 - Easy-drinking, late-summer wine. Good pairing with garden salad. Crisp acidity balanced by the Semillion.

June 22, 2021 - This wine is a perennial summer favorite in my house.

Popped and poured. After 20 minutes of air, it is showing well. White flowers, rocks with a hint of melon and mango in the background. Recognizable as Sauvignon blanc on the palate, mostly due to the mouth-watering acidity. Richness on the mid-palate due to the semillon in the blend. Long finish. Great with light summer fare.

April 29, 2021 - Retail $20. Under screw cap. 87% Sauvignon Blanc, 13% Semillon. Just about every time I try a Sauvignon Blanc from Napa, I have the same thought: it's really too bad that more SB is not made in Napa. Of course there used to a lot more of the variety planted in the Valley, but as the price of Cabernet Sauvignon climbed in the stratosphere, more growers pulled out the parent in favor of the offspring (SB and Cabernet Franc got together and had the precocious Cab Sauv in the 17th Century). Pale straw in the glass with plenty of tropical notes, grapefruit, and white flower. The palate is quite lovely with the fruit upfront but quickly balanced by a healthy dose of tartness and considerable body, due, at least in part, to the Sémillon which is aged in amphorae and neutral oak barrels.
