Community Tasting Notes 4

December 2, 2022 - A gem from Friuli and the finest tasted Schioppettino to date. Wine was aged for 12 months in used oak and 4 years in bottle. Medium ruby colour. Medium intensity aroma of beetroots, black pepper, black currants, blueberries, touch of dried flowers and undergrowth. Medium body, savoury and pungent with fresh red fruit flavours, peppery and leathery notes, velvety texture, vibrant acidity, soft and fine tannins.

May 11, 2022 - Vino che si fa apprezzare dal primo sorso, con un fruttato generoso e complesso che si apre a diverse sfumature. Piacevole freschezza.

May 3, 2022 - The nose on this wine is just so unbelievably salty and peppery I wonder if it's not borderline faulty. It's amazing to begin with but there's only so much of it I can cope with. It makes the wine seem borderline effervescent. I was really enthusiastic about this wine in my last tasting note - the same characters are all there but on this occasion the pepperiness was so dominant that it didn't seem as balanced as last time.

July 30, 2021 - Wow, this was an amazing surprise! Poured by the glass at Passione Vino in London. It’s immensely peppery, but a very distinctive citrusy type of pepper, like a pink pepper or Sichuan pepper, and then underneath it has this delicious Pinot-like juicy red fruit. There’s also something vegetal about it - warm wet grass or hay? But appealing. Like a warm haystack. And then with these soft furry tannins at the end. And then rather lovely hints of raisin and leather. This was just such a delightful surprise.
