January 26, 2012 - Dark purple in color. I detected scents of black plum, black cherry, licorice, allspice and a hint of vanilla. On the palette, dark fruits, well balanced with a medium finish. Very Good!

July 4, 2011 - Very good. Still tons of fruit, smooth. A terrific Oregon Syrah. Beware, lots of sediment.

January 22, 2010 - Very thick, inky coating on the bottom of the cork. Mostly oak coming through on the palate now - the fruit is kinda dead.

December 15, 2009 - Drank over two nights - no major variation between the first and second. Guessing that this is near the end of it's life though. Flavors seem a little muted.

October 24, 2009 - Willamette Valley Tastings 10-24 (Oregon): The scents on this glass are pretty simple; cherries with a bit of cream. The color in the glass is dark and pleasing. On the palate, it's pretty oaky with some light cherry flavors.

(Soléna Syrah Del Rio Vineyard) This wine, from owners Laurent and Danielle Andrus Montalieu, formerly of WillaKenzie and Archery Summit, respectively, is sourced from the same vineyard—sitting at an elevation of 1,000 feet on south-facing slopes and 20 feet of essentially river-rock soil—utilized by Penner-Ash and Wright. Soléna’s rendering is ripe, perfumed, plummy, and lip-smacking. The luscious flavors are infused with pungent, toasty, vanillin oak and strapping leather, actually finishing with a more aggressive, youthful brusqueness than the younger bottlings by Penner-Ash and Wright. Southern Oregon is the Real Deal
