March 1, 2020 - Deep, saturated ruby red with high optical density and medium plus fine specular reflectivity. Sweet on the nose, with dense fruits over toasty oak. A mix of dark red and light black fruits on the nose, with plum, blueberry, and black raspberry in the fruit, and dusty tobacco and oak spices underneath. Fresh acidity and very full bodied on the palate, with a dense and plush texture with soft tannins of medium intensity. Flavours of oak spice (tobacco and crushed roasted nuts) laden fruits on the attack, for a pleasant entry that is quickly supported by a sweetness that coats things. The layer of sweet somewhat mutes the midpalate, which otherwise shows more tart mixed berries, and some earthy notes. Finishes with a warm fruit peel, tobacco, and mocha profile, with medium length. Overall complexity is medium minus, with a rather full intensity overall.

This is a well-balanced new world Merlot. Somewhat luscious and showy, but deftly oaked to balance the sweetness. Easy drinking and delicious in styling, but not a deep and complex wine, more sensual and inviting characteristics. Densely packed with straightforward flavours, this delivers an excellent value wine for a fun, big, rounded, and vivacious Red.
